A sauna and steam bath underneath is now completed and a new coffee shop gives all visitors a relaxed view on the piazza.

The Stentteneck Hotel is a unique hotel in Ortisei. It has a history like no other. It began life as a mansion, but went through many changes. In 1913 it became a Royal and Imperial Post office with a sausage factory and butchers underneath, but in 1915, it was transformed into World War I headquarters for the army. In 1938 it was made into a hotel with family suites. Again when war broke out, it had a major role to play and in 1942, during World War II, it became a military hospital. It wasn't until 1962 that it became what the founders had originally intended, a cosy alpine holiday home. It's now a luxurious place that many people enjoy on their holiday to the Dolomites.

The Hotel boasts that it has the five ‘C's. It's "Central, Comfortable, Convenient, Classic & Cosy.” You only have to look at some of the photos on their website, to see they have another ‘C.' ‘Class.' The Stetteneck is strategically close to the Sella Ronda, an extremely popular skiing site for many skiers. And for those less experienced, there is a ski-school right next door, giving you no excuse but to try it out. In summer, when the snow has melted, there are beautiful rambles and mountain bike tours to be had.

With twenty five classic looking rooms, all with an ensuite bathrooms and with certain discounts for children, this hotel is close to being one of the best charmers of the Piazza of Ortisei.
