[HHL gGmbH - 11.01.2016] HHL Leipzig Graduate School of Management was recently appointed as the first German academic member of Peter Drucker Society Europe. Building on the humanistic ideals and values of Peter Drucker (1909-2005), whom the New York Times once described as "the man who invented management", the renowned international charity aims to attune management practice to the challenges of our times.

Richard Straub, President of the Peter Drucker Society Europe, is with about Germany's first business school joining the organization. He comments, "Although Peter Drucker spent the majority of his life in the United States, his thinking is deeply rooted in European culture. While attending university in Germany, he studied great thinkers such as Humboldt, Rathenau and Tönnies, who had a lasting influence on him.

HHL Dean Prof. Dr. Andreas Pinkwart adds, "Being accepted into the Peter Drucker Society Europe, HHL will obtain access to a worldwide network of outstanding management masterminds. This is how we can contribute to the international dialog on the future of corporate leadership. By the end of 2016, we want to present a New Leipzig Leadership Model and publicly discuss it with decision-makers from the economy and science. Our goal is to provide executives with new concepts and methods of responsible corporate leadership in times digitalization and constant change."

Prof. Dr. Timo Meynhardt, who holds the Dr. Arend Oetker Chair of Business Psychology and Leadership at HHL, follows Peter Drucker's line of thought in his work. In doing so, Prof. Dr. Meynhardt tries to answer the question of the contribution to the common good by companies, public administration and NGOs for management. He says, "It is a great pleasure, honor and also obligation to be a member of the Peter Drucker Society Europe now. The name Peter Drucker is associated with the fundamental works of modern-day management science and mainly the task of understanding and continuing to develop management as a 'societal function'. This broad view on management issues is more important than ever these days."

The Global Peter Drucker Forum was initiated in 2009 to spark a discussion on central, future-oriented management issues and alternative ways of thinking. Additionally, the Global Peter Drucker Challenge, a worldwide essay competition, offers the younger generation an opportunity to get involved in this dialog. http://www.druckerforum.org
