In February 2013, the Global Partnership for Social Accountability (GPSA) launched its first Call for Proposals on Social Accountability for Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) in 12 countries to win grants ranging from US$ 500,000 - US$ 1,000,000.
The Global Partnership for Social Accountability is a coalition of donors, governments and CSOs that aims to improve development results by supporting capacity building for enhanced citizen feedback and participation. To achieve this objective, the GPSA provides strategic and sustained support to CSOs social accountability initiatives aimed at strengthening transparency and accountability.
Applications from the Kyrgyz Republic
A total of 216 CSOs from the 12 participating countries responded to the first Call for Proposals, out of which 13 applications were received from the Kyrgyz Republic. The GPSA Steering Committee (SC) selected Development Policy Institutes proposal: "Voice of Village Health Committees and social accountability of local self-government bodies on health determinants of rural communities of Kyrgyzstan for $598,833 in funding under the GPSA grant program.
Please review the proposal and register and post your comments at the submission page from July 31 through August 5, 2013. The GPSA takes all comments received into consideration before giving the final approval of the project. The period for posting comments will end on August 5, 2013.

GPSAs first grants for social accountability projects
In the Kyrgyz Republic, the GPSA sought Social Accountability proposals from CSOs that addressed the following areas:
1.Monitor and report on key sectors. The public and national authorities will use information produced to improve the access and quality of public services. In addition,, proposals focused on knowledge transfer to/from CSOs will be accepted.
2.Strengthening the monitoring and evaluation capacity of local civil society organizations, such as conducting beneficiary feedback surveys.
