[HHL gGmbH - 02.04.2015] Great joy for the students of the second class of the Global Executive MBA Program (GEMBA) of German HHL Leipzig Graduate School of Management and Spanish Escuela de Alta Dirección y Administración (EADA): a ceremony at Leipzig's Club International on the evening of Friday, March 27, 2015, marked their graduation. Addressing the graduates from Brazil, Bulgaria, Germany, Indonesia, Poland, Spain and Turkey, Chinese-born Margaret Chen, member of the international GEMBA advisory body and former top manager at Telefonica Group, said, "Not only the geographical focus of the program on Germany, Spain as well as Brazil, China and India, but also the high reputation of two business schools EADA and HHL make the Global Executive MBA Program unrivalled in the world." With regard to the increased relevance of education and on-the-job training of skilled labor and executives, Margaret Chen, who now consults for both Spanish and Chinese companies, commented, "Completing an academic program at the beginning of the career is no longer sufficient. After some time on the job, managers have to update their knowledge. They should also exchange experiences with people from other industries to expand their professional and personal perspective. In today's globalized knowledge-based society, we are faced with the challenge of having to find the 'right' kind of information. In this context, the GEMBA provides a valuable tool box for international managers." Margaret Chen went on to comment about the development of the program for executives, "Our GEMBA is completely in line with the latest trends. Organized by two of the best business schools in the world, at a reasonable price and with study locations on three continents, it is at the forefront of international on-the-job training for managers. The Global Executive MBA Program of EADA and HHL stands out by incorporating the latest theoretical as well as particularly practical management content."

GEMBA graduate Prof. Dr. med. Peter Schwarz, 43, leading physician at the University Hospital Dresden, especially enjoyed the executive coaching in addition to the international nature of the program. Together with Steven Poelmans, Professor of Human Resource Management and Director of the Coaching Competency Center at EADA, Prof. Schwarz has identified his strengths and weaknesses at work and developed coping strategies in long personal conversations. "The bottom line is that the coaching sessions helped me to ask the right questions regarding the things I want to do or not do in the future." The second focus of the coaching was on dealing with crises or difficult situations in a team. "In situations of stress and conflict with employees, I am now more sensitive to the potential of these people," comments physician Prof. Schwarz. He adds, "The coaching has paid off. Thanks to the coaching sessions and the EMBA education I am now able to better analyze and process situations. This does not mean that I do not react impulsively or emotionally from time to time but I have a feeling that my decisions are now based on a better foundation."

The graduates of the second class of the Global Executive Program of HHL and EADA have more than ten years of professional experience in various industries. Some students have already become successful entrepreneurs or are planning to start their own businesses. The part-time Global Executive MBA Program is taught entirely in English. It focuses on the peculiarities of business practices in the western European countries (with a special emphasis on Germany and Spain). In addition, participants gain insight into the economies and cultures of the Chinese, Brazilian and Indian markets.

The Global Executive MBA Program of HHL and EADA

The Global Executive MBA Program of German HHL Leipzig Graduate School of Management and Spanish Escuela de Alta Dirección y Administración (EADA) focuses on the development of leadership skills and teaches about intercultural competence and the economic peculiarities of management in Southern and Northern Europe as well as Brazil, China and India. The program, which uses English as the classroom language, is designed especially for executives who have obtained significant professional experience but have not studied business administration.
The structure of the 21-month Executive Program has been adapted to the professional and personal needs of international managers. The Global Executive MBA Program consists of six compulsory modules of which three must be completed in Germany and three in Spain. Another two of three electives have to be completed at renowned business schools in Brazil, China or India.
In addition to teaching core competencies in economics, the development of key qualifications such as communication, negotiation, conflict and diversity management as well as intercultural management abilities, which are all essential for international leadership positions, is a vital part of the program.
Admission requirements for the Global Executive MBA program are a first-level academic degree, a minimum of five years professional experience of which at least three years is in a leadership position, and an excellent command of English.
