[The World Bank - 08.05.2014] Media Advisory: Second Central Asia Climate Knowledge Forum

The World Bank Central Asia Regional Office cordially invites to the
Second Central Asia Climate Knowledge Forum: Moving Towards Regional Climate Resilience.
Dates: May 13-15, 2014
Venue: Rixos Hotel, Almaty, Kazakhstan
The 2nd Annual Central Asia Knowledge Forum organized by the World Bank will continue to promote knowledge and experience sharing among over 100 policy makers and practitioners, international experts, CSOs and other stakeholders, with the objective to advance dialogue on cooperative solutions for resilience at national and regional levels.
Climate change is considered to be one of the biggest threats to sustainable economic development. As we are on a path to a 4C warmer world by the end of this century, the Central Asian countries are also likely face a collective set of climate impacts through higher temperatures and heat waves, changes in the precipitation patterns, increased incidence of flooding and droughts.
The Forum will span across 3 days with the first two days consisting of technical discussions related to climate change, integrated water resource management, and disaster-risk management, combining regional and international experiences in these areas. The last day of the Forum will consist of a high-level discussion on a possible Climate Resilience Program that aims at a concerted, systematic and integrated landscape approach at the national as well as regional scales.
The forum is open for your participation. The designated speakers will address your questions. Media desk will facilitate your requests.
Please confirm your participation by Monday, May 12. Contact Shynar Jetpissova for accreditation at sjetpissova@worldbank.org.
